Jenny Hart joined the bride squad for a bachelorette weekend in Miami. It was a last-minute booking, but after reviewing her points and miles with various airlines, she found that JetBlue had the best deal for her.
Name: Jenny Hart
Residence: New York
Credit card: JetBlue Card
Route: Round trip from LaGuardia International Airport-New York to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
Dates of travel: Aug. 16 – 19, 2018
Class of service: Economy
Q: Did you visit a lounge at the airport?
Q: Did you travel alone or with someone?
A: I was going on the trip to celebrate my friend’s bachelorette party, but I flew there and back on my own.
The card and loyalty program
Q: What card/loyalty program did you use to get a free trip?
Q: How long were you a cardholder/member at that time?
I’ve had my current TrueBlue account since 2015. I’ve had a JetBlue Card since August 2017.
Q: How long were you planning/saving for this trip?
A: The trip was fairly impromptu so I had limited flight options. I have frequent flyer points with multiple airlines but decided to use JetBlue for this trip to get the best deal. For example, American Airlines was going to charge me a $75 close-in ticketing fee to redeem my miles last minute.
Q: What’s your favorite perk of this card/program?
A: I like that I can redeem points from traveling on JetBlue as well as earn points per dollar spent on my credit card.
Redemption and booking
Q: Did you take advantage of promotions while earning points for this trip?
A: I got TrueBlue points as a sign-up bonus when I opened my credit card in 2017.
Q: Where did you book?
A: On JetBlue.com.
Q: How many points/miles/rewards did this cost?
A: It cost 37,500 TrueBlue points plus $11.20 in taxes (which I paid for with credit in my JetBlue Travel Bank.)
Q: Did you book in conjunction with a promotion or deal?
Q: Any surprises?
What’s your next travel rewards goal?
I’ve had credit cards with many different airlines, but haven’t tried Southwest yet. I would like to open a card with them later this year to start beefing up my Rapid Rewards points.
